Hey Codrops community, I’m Quentin, an independent interactive and creative developer with 11 years of experience. I’m based in Brussels (Belgium), and I created piecesjs.
I’m passionate about well-crafted animations and smart user experiences. I specialize in creating immersive, interactive experiences that focus on smooth animations and seamless user flows.
Showcase
HĂ©loĂŻse Thibodeau Architecte
The Héloïse Thibodeau Architecte website is my latest project. We did it in duo with my friend Louis Paquet (Creative & Art Director), and we’re very happy to have been Site of the Day on awwwards and to have won the Developer Award.
It was a real pleasure to work with Louis (who is also a former colleague from Locomotive), to work on these animation intentions and to push certain ideas further.
It’s a WordPress site, using Lenis for scroll management and GSAP for animations.
Decathland – Yeye Weller x Decathlon
With Index Studio, we created a playful landing page showcasing the collaboration between Decathlon and Yeye Weller. The project was built using piecesjs and 11ty.
Vendredi Society
I had the pleasure of working on the front-end and creative development for Vendredi Society’s new website. I was honored when they reached out to me for this project, as I’ve always deeply admired their work. They provided initial animation concepts, and I was given the creative freedom to expand upon these ideas and develop new ones. The frontend was built using Lenis for smooth scrolling and GSAP for animations, while Leia Casteigbou developed the WordPress backend.
If you’d like to learn more about this project, check out the case study.
Tigermilk Restaurants
Tigermilk restaurants are cozy haciendas serving Mexican-style cuisine and cocktails. Everything is made fresh on site, in Paris, Brussels, Lille, Bordeaux and Lyon. In collaboration with Index Studio, I developed this website, which earned both Site of the Day and Developer awards on Awwwards. Working with Index was a really fun as we created playful animations and innovative user-experience concepts.
A bit more about me
After studying at Gobelins school in France, I moved to Montreal, Canada in 2015 where I worked at Locomotive for 6 years as a creative developer, and as lead front-end developer for the last 2 years. There, I was able to develop and improve my skills. In 2021, I decided to return to Europe and start freelancing. I now live in Brussels, where life is great, people are friendly, and I can enjoy the large parks and delicious waffles.
In 2023, I had the opportunity to give a dev talk at the Awwwards conference in Amsterdam (it was the most stressful moment of my career, but such a great opportunity). Over 11 years, I’ve won more than 30 Site of the Day on Awwwards, and while at Locomotive, I was fortunate to be part of the team when they won Agency of the Year for three consecutive years.
What drives me most is seeing things move and having fun making them interactive. I love discovering and finding inspiration every day, in everything I see in life. What I love most about being a developer is that each project brings new challenges and opportunities. The web evolves very quickly, which means there’s always something new to learn and explore.
Tools and techniques
Regarding tools and techniques, I’m a huge fan of GSAP and use Lenis for scroll management in nearly all my projects. For JavaScript component management, I created piecesjs. You can learn more about it in this article on Codrops.
Final Thoughts
I’m really happy to have been offered a spotlight on Codrops, it’s one of the sites with the best resources in terms of development and design, and a great source of inspiration, so thank you to the team!
