Looking for inspiration for an archaeology logo? Or perhaps you want to create a social media graphic that can recreate the buzz around the infamous Area 51? Whatever it is, a contest we held in DesignCrowd might be worth exploring for you.
In case you missed it, the creative community in DesignCrowd held a contest entitled “Archaeological Anomalies 12”. The rules are as follows:
Contestants will have to create a graphic that shows an archaeological hoax. It should showcase incredibly realistic editing and photo manipulation. As the contest rules go, “Your job is to show a picture of an archaeological discovery that looks so real, had it not appeared at Worth1000, people might have done a double take.”
This can be Atlantis, a 2,000-year-old Coca-Cola can, the latest Tesla buried in the Egyptian Pyramids, or finding the aforementioned Area 51 aliens. Sounds fun, right?
Check out the great design entries here
The contest has received 34 submissions from 31 creatives, with the winning submission coming from designer “roootze”.
The winning design is a vertical photo layout with great composition and vivid colors. It shows a man accidentally finding a tailed skeleton underneath the ground while shoveling. The textures, incredible attention to detail, and eerie vibe warranted the gold prize.
The contest is also full of creative ideas and submissions that you can dig (pun intended!) through for more archaeological inspiration. You can find fun edits such as the Sun God Ra wearing shades, opening a sarcophagus only to find that the Pharaoh is wearing an Adidas shirt, or finding a gigantic robot inside an ice glacier in Antarctica.

The entries are full of variety. Whether you are looking for something rich and textured, futuristic and sleek, or something straight out of a Fairy Tale book, there is a design for you
All of these combined with our skull logo maker or ancient logo maker can surely help you create an archaeological-inspired illustration of your dreams.
Need more tips for your design? First, consider your brand identity. Do you want to look academic, adventurous, or mysterious?
Next are your design elements. Using known historical symbols and icons such as Pyramids, shovels, trowels, pottery, or hieroglyphs can help.
Last is the color. Use gold, warm brown, dark red, vivid orange, or metallic accents to evoke a sense of richness and history.
