Serving Brand Justice To Cali’s Emerging Forensics Company

Graphic DesignServing Brand Justice To Cali's Emerging Forensics Company

Everyone is making the shift to digital. Even criminals.

That’s why Forensic Data Extraction & Analysis LLC built itself from the ground up. Since launching in November 2019, the data company has been providing valuable digital forensic solutions to clients who need it.

Compiling third-party watch lists, mining and preserving data, evaluating digital transactions—the everyday life of forensic data companies may seem like a list of made-up buzzwords from spy movies.

Operations in this industry are complex, to say the least. For normal people, it gets alienating. The industry is full of curious jargon and practices that need quite a bit of Googling.

This California-based digital forensics company knew better than to take on this pursuit without a solid branding plan. They knew they had to have something that encapsulates their identity.

The company’s journey to creating a powerful branding is summed up in three parts:

Planning

Being new to the industry requires a lot of branding work. At the early stages of a business, leaders build a distinction of their brand from their competitors.

Naturally, brand recognition becomes the core of your operations.

The amount of work you put in this affects how well your company is trusted and seen in the market. These efforts can come in the form of simple projects such as logo making or as huge as designing an optimized landing page for your company.

When forming a marketing collateral plan, brands must always start by asking themselves these two questions:

  • What value do you offer?
  • Who are your customers?
  • What message do you want your audience to receive?

Your response should serve as a good baseline of what your asset should embody.

For our subject, they want to offer data services and their expertise in mobile extraction. Their target audiences are civil and criminal attorneys seeking help to preserve needed evidence. Lastly, the brand wanted something that explains what they do.

Owner and Digital Forensics Examiner Michael Noffsinger said of their project goal, “it was important for me to communicate our digital forensic capabilities at Forensic Data Extraction & Analysis LLC.”

Strategizing in the formative stages of brand awareness is better integrated with marketing assets for support.

He added, “Branding is incredibly important and having a memorable logo along with an informative flyer is key to success.”

Flyers were the right fit for the company’s endeavor. As you know, flyers or sell sheets are informative leave-behind materials that shed light on your products and service. This is a well-loved marketing tool because it’s cost-effective and potent for lead generation.

It is also an effective channel to demonstrate expertise and knowledge of data.

Thanks to the tangibility of flyers, they can be easily kept in desks and corkboards around attorney offices, too. The company’s marketing material won’t get lost in the oversaturated online space.

Sourcing

Some would respond to this need of a flyer by searching for flyer design templates. But according to Contently, 61% of people are more likely to buy from companies that deliver unique content.

While you can still, of course, create great logos with templates, Noffsinger chose to lead this project by reaching out to DesignCrowd. Having been in the fast-paced data industry, he knew he had to work with experts to get the design he wants and fast.

But you might be wondering how he found himself on our website. Here’s a TL;DR:

Upon hearing his design need, a friend of Noffsinger recommended crowdsourcing and vouched for DesignCrowd. He learned that he could get in touch with hundreds of talents to work on his project.

We’re thrilled to head that the expertise and insight DesignCrowd artists provide is good enough to be recommended. People tend to believe recommendations from friends more than ads they see on the internet. 92% of people prefer to believe real accounts of a brand.

Going on the platform sparked connections with a group of over 790,000 freelance graphic designers from all over the world. These artists are always equipped to set themselves up for highly-competitive contests in their respective specialties.

But first, he had to fill out a form to orient the designer of his brand identity and objectives.

The company wanted something that would establish credibility and ultimately, attract a target niche. On another hand, they also needed an asset that is visually informative enough to communicate their services even to outsiders.

As expected, our artists were ready to take on Forensic Data Analysis and Extraction LLC’s flyer project. Noffsinger posted the job on Thursday and got 25 submissions by the next day.

Selecting

Out of the 25 submissions, the company had to select one. They reviewed them and rounded up the best one by taking a good long look at each one.

Noffsinger thought his first pick was the one, but he was surprised to learn that his colleagues did not feel the same. So he found a way to work around his problem.

“I used the polling feature (which is excellent, by the way) to poll family and friends about what they liked best,” Noffsinger described how he chose the design that fit what he wanted and his business needed.

The entries above received a 4-star rating for their visuals-focused flyer. Compared to other designs, these had lesser text and more space. While the flyers below have considerably more text and more focus on the brand’s logo.

They all gave what Noffsinger was looking for in the design brief. It was clear how the artists complied in each mock-up. As requested, each flyer had an undoubted techie look to every proposal.

Eventually, Noffsinger chose the work of alex989 whose work ethic he summarized by saying, “he [alex989] did a great job following instructions and helping improve my design.”

The artist describes their art style as clean and catchy. That’s the formula of any catchy design, right? And that’s exactly what the artist accomplished. The flyer is highly-readable and spacious. You can easily tell from the first look what the company is offering. You’ll get an even better understanding once you’ve read the body text matched with eye-catching icons on the flyer.
