How designers find jobs on DesignCrowd

Graphic DesignHow designers find jobs on DesignCrowd

There are three different ways you can find job opportunities on DesignCrowd.

After you register you can visit the jobs board to find hundreds of open design contests – from logo design, business card, website, flyer, t-shirt design and more. In this style of contest you compete for the project budget with an unlimited number of designers.

You can also receive paid invites to work exclusively with a client, these are called 1 on 1 projects. If your design is approved, you get 100% of the budget (less commission).

The other type of paid invite where 3 designers compete for the project budget. Each designer is sent a paid invite and has a 1 in 3 chance of winning the full project budget if the customer selects their design.

This post will provide an overview of the different job invites you can expect when you join DesignCrowd.

In a nutshell:

  • 1 on 1 Projects – paid invites just for you to work with the client solo
  • Mini contest – paid invites sent to 3 designers to compete on the project
  • Contests – small number of paid invites available, unlimited designers compete, unpaid invites also sent

1 on 1 Paid Invites (1 designer)

>

This is an exclusive paid invitation sent to you from the client meaning you have zero competition from other designers. Clients who use this service are usually super-engaged and will send you timely feedback.

For example, you might receive one of these invites if a client is requesting follow up work (you won a logo contest and the client has offered you a business card design job) or a client has sent you a paid invite requesting you to submit up to 3 designs.

The payment is guaranteed if:

  1. You accept the invite and submit prior to the submission deadline provided
  2. Your submission meets the brief requirements and our minimum quality standards

Want start getting more 1 on 1 project invites?

You need to be verified, visit DesignCrowd often, submit regularly to contests and receive positive ratings for your submissions. To keep receiving these types of projects, you need to reliably deliver the project work and meet the deadlines.

Mini Contest Paid Invite Projects (where 3 designers compete)

>

In a mini contest you compete with 2 designers to win the client’s project budget. All three designers in the contest are sent paid invites. You have a 1 in 3 chance of winning the full project budget.

How does it work?

You will be sent a paid invite outlining the project details and deadline to accept the invite and a deadline to submit artwork by. You will be paid the base payment invite if:

  1. You accept the invite and submit prior to the submission deadline provided
  2. Your submission meets the brief requirements and our quality standards.

Want to start getting mini contest paid invites?

You need your designer account to be verified; visit DesignCrowd often; submit regularly to contests and receive positive ratings for your submissions. Once you start accepting these invites, you must reliably deliver project work that meets our design standards and the advertised deadlines.

Contest Invites where an unlimited designers compete

>

This is the original crowdsourcing design model where a contest is open to an unlimited number of designers to compete for the project budget. Typically budgets are higher in this format as customers want to attract a high volume of participants with new ideas. Another feature of contests is participation payments.

How do contest invites work:

  • There are limited number of paid invites valued between $10-20 available
  • Paid invites are sent to designers to encourage their participation in a project
  • If you receive one of these, review the details of the brief, accept the invitation and submit a design that meets our quality standards prior to deadline
  • If you accept the paid contest invite and your submission is not selected as the winner, you will receive the participation payment in lieu of the main prize
  • There is a small volume of unpaid contest invites sent to notify designers about contests that match their interests/design specialities.
  • Designers can accept the invite or save it to their watchlist to participate another time

To qualify for these invites, you need to follow the advice previously given. Submit early and often to contests, achieve positive ratings for your submissions and deliver work on time. Easy!
