Twenty-two years ago, the first World Summit Against Cancer laid the groundwork for our Cancer prevention plans today. In an attempt to demand further action and research, activists around the globe established this summit on February 4, 2000.
Even up to now, cancer is still an unstoppable disease. It claims half-a-million lives per year. The good news is that we’ve done fantastic work in cancer research, and through that, we were able to prevent so many deaths.Â

Why This Day?
February 4 was when each cancer organization worldwide signed the Charter of Paris Against Cancer. Article 10 of that document stated that every 4th of February would celebrate World Cancer Day.
But why do we need this day?
Because Cancer has become the leading cause of death around the globe claiming nearly 10 million lives as of 2020. If we do not raise awareness about it now, then when?
If you don’t already know, cancer is an illness of the cells. It’s an abnormality that you can’t get cured once you have it, but your symptoms are treatable.
Imagine your cells eating other cells because of this abnormality, and you have to watch yourself or a loved one slowly die. Not a happy picture, noh?
So let’s help each other raise awareness about cancer through our businesses. After all, around 64% of buyers say that they would buy again from a vocal brand about social issues.
