Famous App Logos For Your Amusement
Of course, there are different types of applications. From social media to games, your device deserves every bit of personalization.
Since there are many apps out there, we will give the top five of each category. Each category offers free and paid apps to provide you with more leeway on your budget.
We narrowed the categories into five:
Gaming
One of the joys of having a smartphone is the various games and mobile application you can find on your Android or Apple Device.
Check them out below:
Stardew Valley
Released on February 26, 2016, the game got its shot to stardom when it got trending in January of last year. It’s a chill game that follows you as you escape the corporate world into the farm that your grandfather left for you.
Now let’s look at the logo. It’s a woodwork wordmark that promises adventure and points towards something to do with nature (your farm). Compared to the pixelated woodwork of a wordmark, the app has a pixelated chicken associated with farming.
Pokemon GO
Pokemon Go dabbles with Augmented-Reality (AR). The game’s goal is to find and catch the various species of pokemon by walking around your neighborhood.
Taking a look at the app’s logo, it’s the iconic Pokeball with blue starlight as the background and a small path under the Pokeball that could imply adventure. It’s a combination of cool colors and their iconic in-game item that makes this game identifiable anywhere.
Minecraft
Minecraft is another pixelated game that allows players to create their worlds using tools and minerals in the shape of pixellated boxes. It became the first game that won the Game of the Year award. Later in the year, Minecraft became a mobile application—a pocket edition.
The app’s logo is a pixelized 3D wordmark of the game’s name with pixelated soil as the background. It gives off the sense of building from scratch.
Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact was released last September 28, 2020. It gained the Best Mobile Game award the previous year, and it’s no shocker, especially with the beautiful scenery and flawless gameplay that Genshin has. Aside from that, the game has cute characters with their personalities and backstories.
Now, let’s look at the logo. It’s a plain black wordmark with the signature shooting star across the words and the headband of their poster girl, Paimon. For the app, it’s Paimon doing a cute face with the creator’s name below it. It’s an adorable pictorial mark that’s also recognizable from anywhere.
Adorable Home
Another chill game that emerged in the early 2020s, Adorable Home, is a unique simulation game that depicts you and your partner, whether you are in a heterosexual relationship or an LGBTQ+ one.
Taking a look at the app’s logo, it’s a pictorial mark of a lesbian couple and their baby, which promotes their support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Messaging
Another type of app that makes a helpful smartphone is your messaging application. The applications let you communicate with your loved ones over wifi for free.
Spot the application you use for communicating below:
WhatsApp deserves its title as the best messaging app because of its multi-platform capabilities and free call and text functions. The app’s logo is a simple green chat bubble with a phone inside it.
Similar to WhatsApp’s logo, WeChat has two chat bubbles overlapping each other. It’s a more expensive alternative to Whatsapp, but it depends on which one you want to use.
Messenger
Meta’s, formerly known as Facebook, has an orange, pink, and purple gradient chat bubble with a lightning bolt in the middle. The lightning bolt represents instant messaging, thus, making this message app’s logo different from the rest.
Snapchat
Snapchat is a messaging app that allows users to send pictures, messages, and even drawings to each other. But the catch is that the photos posted, when people see them, disappear after a few seconds.
The fleeting images are what the ghost represents. You don’t have time to process before a new idea comes. It gives a fun and creative way to see photos.
Telegram
The last of the messaging apps is Telegram. It has one of the minimalist designs here. The paper airplane embodies the app’s purpose: to connect people and send messages.
Music
Listening to music has become an everyday activity for most of us. Whether for a workout or during work, having background music is necessary.
Spot your favorite music app below:
Spotify
One of the convenient music streaming apps, Spotify, has a premium and free account you can use to listen to music. It has features like playlist sharing and, of course, music streaming.
Now, look at Spotify’s logo. It has three lines representing sound waves and connectivity with other people. And it’s encircled by the globe, a universal symbol of inclusivity.
Apple Music
For Apple Music, we have a simple music note with a gradient of purple and pink that creates the app’s logo. Compared to the wordmark, the new app logo reflects the latest iOS update—a fun and energetic way to listen to music.
Pandora
What makes Pandora different from the other music apps mentioned is that it has Pandora Stories, an overview of the whole album, tour dates, ticket information, etc.
They almost got sued for copying PayPal’s logo, but now, it’s a minimalist P with a blue gradient.
SoundCloud
SoundCloud is a platform where you can share any audio you want. Whether the time is from 3 minutes to 3 hours, you can upload it on soundcloud.
Their logo is a literal cloud with half of it like a soundwave which fits the overall service they provide for users.
Tidal
Tidal is another music app that’s a more expensive alternative to Spotify. It has limited interruptions for the free version and is ad-free for the Tidal HiFi subscription. Aside from that, it has high-quality audio, which makes it a more expensive option than Spotify.
The logo is a wordmark with four diamonds that looks like a T or an inverted triangle. The diamonds signify luxury and are said to look like stage lights. It’s a pretty interesting design.
Online Shopping
Since the pandemic started, online shopping has become the primary method of shopping. And by 2023, online shopping will comprise 22% of all global retail sales. Pretty giant leap if you ask us.
Check out your favorite shopping app below:
Amazon
As Amazon grew, it created its mobile application on March 22, 2011. The app’s logo is a box with Amazon’s signature smile-like arrow compared to their wordmark.
Etsy
Etsy is an online marketplace for handmade craft items from independent creators. From crocheting to knitting and even homemade jewelry, you can find it on Etsy.
The logo online and the application are the same—Etsy in Guardian Egyptian with Georgia font and orange background. Kalin, the creator of Etsy, said that orange became the business color because he happened to sit on an orange chair when he came up with the business.
eBay
Compared to Amazon, eBay has lower restrictions and fees for online selling. And when you look at their logo, they’re similar to Google when it comes to color.
Their wordmark uses Market Sans both for website and mobile applications like Etsy.
Wish
Directed at low-income buyers, Wish is where you can find the cheapest deal for everyday items. Its greatest asset is marketing because you can create wishlists on the website for any kind of item you want.
And if you look at their logo, is their business name in sans serif font. The application itself has the signature W from their wordmark.
Shopee
The last of the online shopping applications is Shoppee. Despite the late rise in the industry, it didn’t stop them from reaching the top of the eCommerce marketplace in South East Asia.
Like Etsy, Shopee chose an orange business color and had an emblem for its app logo. The emblem consists of a shopping bag with the initial S in the middle—it truly represents what the business offers: a fun shopping experience.
Social Media
Last, of all, the types of applications are social media—where you can share anything and everything with your family, friends, and the world.
Check out which one you use the most below:
Facebook was one of the most popular social media platforms, reaching 350 million registered users in December 2009. To his day, Facebook has become part of our lives. It’s where we do business and interact with our friends and family.
Now, let’s look at the logo. The website logo is a wordmark, while the app logo is a circle with an F in white space style. According to their brand portal, the circle symbolizes how the profiles appear. The bright blue reflects the vibrancy of the community. Lastly, the logo itself is said to represent human connection.
YouTube
Our favorite free video streaming platform allows you to watch content from different types of channels. From sports to fashion to movie trailers, they have it right here. It’s no Netflix, but the video content is excellent.
And their logo reflects just that—a red play button for the access the platform gives to download and streaming videos. Which kind of videos is on your recommended list?
Facebook bought Instagram in 2012, but even before that, it has tased success with around 1 billion users on the platform monthly. It became the number one photo-sharing app. It makes brands look more personable for each moment of your life, and you can visually share.
Instagram used to have a vintage camera as its logo to depict nostalgia and keeping of memories. But now, with the new minimalistic logo paired with colors associated with the sunset, which is a great time to take photos.
TikTok
If Instagram is to images, TikTok is to videos. You can create a short video through the multiple filters that the application provides just for you. It’s another great app that makes your brand personable and is a pretty vital marketing tool.
The logo itself is a reflection of what TikTok wants to achieve. The designer wanted the logo to let people feel like they were watching creators express themselves in a theater. Thus, the music note with a 2D anaglyph wave came to life.
Share linked photos through your Pinterest account with anyone. You can create your mood board here, or if you just want to save links to images that you love, you can create boards to aid you in finding them better.
The wordmark logo is what we see on websites, while the red P is on the application. It represents the action of pinning links/photos to the boards you create.
